Vintage Homemade Automatic Trolling & Chugging Handlining Wood Box Fishing Reel

me from my 96 year old (deceased)
fathers collection of vintage old Fishing Lures, which he used and collected.
Approximate size of the box is:  12 1/2" wide by 10 3/4" wide and 9 1/2 " tall, full size and functional.
I am now 73 years old, and remember my father bringing back his limit of walleyes on those late Friday nights.
At that time, some 68 years ago, can still see him coming in at 4 a.m. in the morning, after a night on the river.
It comes with the original 15 walleye lures displayed, all of which are rare and individual collectable's.
I could have listed each of these lures separately, but have decided to sell this complete unit as a one package sale.
Also the 4 original steel leaders used with the handlining sinker holds, to double up and get the bait down.
Original 7 monofilament leaders, in different hand marked lengths for the hook up lures for use of the trolling box.
My father hand made this in the late 1949's-1950, and was one of those "River Rats", in the Detroit River!
Following with the idea of using the innards of a broken Victrola player to make a box that winds the wire up automatically.
The main theme of these old river boxes was that they used all the old copper wire that came from the phone cables.
The advantage of that was that it was plentiful and would never corrode, and the old "River Rats" love and used it.
Handlining has been a favorite walleye fishing technique on the Detroit River, from the early 1930's till even now.
This
method
or technique is recorded as dating back to at least the 1930s.
Sometimes called “pulling wire,” handlining is an art that was the way of the "River Rats", which Dad was one of.
This is the complete package for the true collector, this lure is in Fair used working shape for its age, roughly 63 years old.
This is a must have for the serious collector of Vintage freshwater fishing
memorabilia.
