Description
The Roanoke Island or Burnside Expedition was a Union Army amphibious landing on the North Carolina coast February, 1862. An original issue of the Philadelphia Inquirer, Feb 15, 1862 with front page illus of General Ambrose Burnside & US Navy Commodore Louis M Goldsborough, with maps of the Island showing Union & rebel lines & channel incl Kill Devil Hill. An Original complete issue w 8pp news of the Union Victory, the burning of Elizabeth City, list of Union killed & wounded, Union Units w officers, also more War news incl Fort Donelson. VG, disbound with small edge cuts.
