Charming Victorian 14k Gold Pearl Blue Enamel Memorial Hair Brooch Pin
Presented is a fabulous American Victorian 14 karat gold hair brooch/pin. The
brooch is set with finely plaited hair under glass, in brown and blond. The
glass is surrounded by a ring of natural pearls and gorgeous blue enamel, which
complement one another nicely. The back of the brooch is inscribed with the
names Elizabeth Sawyer and Sybill Sawyer, presumably the owners of the hair
inside. The brooch has an old C style clasp as well as a safety chain with
pin.
The pin is in great overall condition. There are two small flakes to the blue
enamel, which does not go all the way to the metal underneath and is not easily
noticeable. The pearls and the glass are in great shape. There are no breaks and
no repairs.
This piece is not stamped or hallmarked, but we have tested it with nitric
acid and guarantee it to be 14 karat gold.
The pin is about 1 inch in diameter. Including the safety chain, the total
length is about 5 7/8 inches.
The total weight including the stopper back is 7.7 grams. The weight for just
the pin is 7.2 grams.
