    Description

We are selling four generations’ worth of antique original maps. Please check our numerous eBay listings for more one-of-a-kind historic maps. Once they’re gone, they’re gone!
This 1883 map was drawn on Mylar by Wm. H. Whitney, prominent Boston-area Surveyor/Civil Engineer in the 1800's. The Title Block says,
"Battle Field of Winchester, VA, (Sometimes called Opequon), September 19, 1864.  Showing the right field of the morning fight when the XIXth Corps opposed successfully the divisions of Ramseur, Rodes & Gordon. Surveyed by Wm. H. Whitney, C.E. Sept. 19, 1883. Boston, Mass."
The map measures approximately 28" wide x 19" tall.
This unusual military map is in excellent condition. There are no rips or tears, other than a couple of tiny ones in the border which do not affect the information on the map. There are a couple of penciled hand-written numbers on the bottom corner. There are a few minor folds that can be smoothed out. There is some minor evidence of foxing/discoloration/soiling from age, but all information is clear and readable. Please consider the photos carefully as we cannot accept returns on this map.
