    Description

This gorgeous Georgian mourning band is a true rarity! It is a very luxurious example of mourning jewelry! It weighs a whopping 9.2 grams of solid 18k buttery yellow gold. This is double or triple your average mourning band weight! The size (fit) is approximately a 9. The bottom edge stops at a 9.5 on the mandrel. The width is 9.8mm.
The outside of the band reads IN MEMORY OF in a beautiful gothic style font that is characteristic of the mid 1800’s gothic revival period. There are also two rows of acanthus leaves running along side the words.
The inside of the ring is hallmarked for London with the leopard’s head and the date year for 1840-41. There you will also find the profile of Queen Victoria and the crown duty mark. The inscription reads John Raimes obit. June 24th 1858. The inscription is done in such a lovely print font!
