  • Condition: Very good condition. The glass vase has no fleabites, chips, hairlines or cracks. The sterling base has 2 tiny dings (see photos #10 + #11). There is an initial R or K on one side of the sterling base. The etched pattern includes ribbons, pearls, and flowers. Please refer to written description and photographs for more details.

    Up for auction at the Grand Antique Mall, located in Cincinnati, Ohio is an
    Antique Hawkes 14” Tall Etched Glass Vase Set in a Sterling Silver Base
    . The trumpet-shaped vase has a pattern that features ribbons, pearls, and flowers.  The underside of base holds the hallmark:

    . On one side of the sterling base is a monogram that appears to be K or R. Circa: 1917-1922.
    Based in Corning, NY, T.G. Hawkes & Co. (c.1880-1959) was established by Thomas Gibbons Hawkes (1846-1913). Born in Ireland, Hawkes immigrated to Brooklyn in 1862, then moved to Corning, opening his own cut glass firm in 1880. His firm, T.G. Hawkes & Co., soon became famous for quality wares. Hawkes' glassware was used in the White House from 1885 until 1938. Hawkes pieces can be found in museums world-wide.
