Description
Antique 1769 English Georgian Sterling Silver Hand Chased Milk Pitcher CreamerPresented is an antique, English Georgian sterling silver creamer or small milk
pitcher made in London in 1769. This mid 18th century piece is completely hand
chased with beautiful repousse flowers and scrolls. The piece is raised on 4
very decorative, shell form feet. The front has an old, original monogram of the
initials AGN. The underside has a presentation inscription reading: AG Nye
Presented her by Milses D & B Barker.
The underside bears the crowned leopard's head for the city of London, the
lion passant for sterling silver purity, a date letter O for the year 1769 and
a maker's mark.
This piece is in great overall condition especially considering its age. The chased
designs are very crisp. There is a pinprick hole by the left front foot, which
has been sealed on the interior and exterior with clear epoxy, so the creamer
does not leak. The underside has a couple of very minor dents, but nothing
that's easy to notice, you'd have to turn the piece upside down and inspect it.
The creamer measures 4 3/8 inches from handle to spout and is 5 inches tall.
Weight: 188 grams.
