    Description

Own A rare piece of American History from 1987...Engraved to
"Matthew Ames by The Men of the Monocacy."...winner of the Cricket match in 1887.
As far as my research has gone, Monocacy River..
    was
    a victory
    turning point place
in the civil war. Lee was defeated there.
Cricket was brought from England to US. These  "ashes "style trophies coumarate the ashes trophy that the cricket ball was burned in and the ashes placed inside the urn....this tradition began in England.
This piece was purchased from a private estate...owner may have been a relative.
Great gift for Cricket enthusiasts, birthday, sports collector, trophy collector, Christmas or any other occasion...maybe even for a museum
    or cricket club of America.
Gilt shows normal wear...engraving on back of men playing cricket...front engraving
    sides handles wreathes
top engraved with birds leaves...very beautiful engraving on base as well...
    truly a collectors joy!
